Connect Zapier with webhooks

Send workspace events such as a paid invoice or a new conversation to Zapier through a signed outgoing webhook.

  1. Start a Zap with a webhook trigger

In Zapier, create a Zap and choose Webhooks by Zapier as the trigger. Pick Catch Raw Hook so the request headers reach your Zap, then copy the webhook URL Zapier shows.

Good to know: UnifyDesk sends a standard signed JSON request, so any automation tool that accepts incoming webhooks works the same way.

  2. Add the endpoint in UnifyDesk

Select the workspace, then open Settings → This workspace → Access & API → Webhooks and choose Manage endpoints. Choose New endpoint, fill in Name, paste the Zapier address in URL, tick the Events to send, such as Invoice paid or Conversation created, keep Active ticked and choose Save.

Good to know: Managing webhooks needs a workspace or organization admin.

  3. Keep the signing secret

After the first save, New webhook signing secret shows the secret once. Choose Copy, store it in Zapier (for example in a Code by Zapier step), then choose Done. Use Rotate secret on the endpoint if the secret is ever exposed.

  4. Send a test delivery

In Webhook endpoints, choose Send test on the endpoint and confirm with Send test. In Zapier, load the test request and map its fields. Each delivery carries event, data, delivery_id and timestamp.

  5. Check each delivery before acting

Every delivery is signed with HMAC-SHA256 over the raw body using the signing secret. Compare it with the X-Webhook-Signature header, check that X-Webhook-Delivery and X-Webhook-Timestamp equal the body’s delivery_id and timestamp, reject old timestamps and skip a delivery ID you have already handled.

Good to know: Choose View delivery log in Settings → Webhooks to see each delivery and its result. An endpoint that keeps failing shows its failure count there.
